The reason i asked it is there are a lot of Windows 7 and some Vista drivers are in your system and they are not fully compatible with Windows 8. This started happening when I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 a few months ago, every once in awhile I would get a blue screen and my computer would restart itself, So our first step is to fix known software issues.

You don't need a third party AV program with Windows 8. make sure that the memory modules are set up as required. Things may have changed since the original post but its what I had to do to get the game running again.
