Windows 7 Install Over Fixmbr 10mb Problem

Then I downloaded and ran your Capacity restore tool, and it showed the correct HD capacity difference so far so good! Then I found you (via Google) and you saved me! Great site.

Steve on August 15, 2007 11:32 am Steve: This software won't be able to give you more gigabytes than you see on the HDD sticker. At work I have access to a Windows 7 enterprise (32 bit) VM for some various management tools. Source

Abe on October 3, 2007 3:49 pm Hello, You can try to set the hard drive as Master, that might help. This command is useful when you suspect your boot sector may have been overwritten by another operating system installation or malware, or if you suspect the boot sector itself is damaged. You aren't using pirated software are you? If I don't I get the NTLDR error. http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/278112-windows-7-install-over-fixmbr-10mb-problem.html

You should always backup important data. I decided to restart my PC and then the terrible thing happen. Thanks in advance.

Sunil on November 6, 2007 11:41 pm Hi, I have a Sata hdd 320G installed win xp and serivce pack 2, on drive. Ive done a number of things: Tried system restore.didnt work Tried startup repair...didnt work either.

when you get to the screen attached below click advanced and choose hd0 or sda to install GRUB to MBR. On the Advanced Options page, click "Command Prompt." Once you're at the Command Prompt, you'll be using the bootrec command, and there are a couple of options that can be useful This looks exactly like a BIOS 137 GB problem from outside. One thing to know however is that the 10mb of empty space is just that empty unallocated drive space since you have a Basic volume in use with Windows.

I know I have seen those two different versions with Vista. You'were 1000% correct. That was exactly what I did and as soon as I choose the 16-GB clip mode everything returned to normal.I'm a happy man with my 250GB hard disk drive Thanks

Dmitry Postrigan on January 28, 2008 7:20 pm I recently bought a new WD10EACS 1Tb WD Drive that i tried to clone with Acronis. http://www.windowshelpzone.com/thread/windows-7-install-partition-problem.html HELP!

Johnny on November 25, 2007 4:37 am I managed to get my secondary 60 gig drive (that is only reading 40 gigs) to work on it's own channel.

Basically, I would like to be able to have things like Windows 7 settings, themes, ect imported. You can follow him on Facebook and Twitter. THE PROBLEM TO ME DOESNT SEEM TO BE OF A PHYSICAL ORIGIN SINCE I HAD NO PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

CDG on October 25, 2007 8:21 I came up with an idea to clone my original hard drive to the newer one.

There has to be a way to switch S-ATA ports into "Normal" or "Compatible" or "Legacy" mode (as opposed to "Native"). I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. what I do is unplug the power to my sata drive hosting ubuntu, point the bios to boot from the windows drive first then install windows,re-plug the ubu drives power then Went just as smooth as the first time.

I instaled Service pack 1-2 and even 3, no luck? this contact form Before I got rid of Windows altogether I tried using the Windows Recovery Console (FixMBR, FixBOOT and the such). But the drive will not allow me to format it so i cannot install windows XP onto the Samsung drive. So, your 300 GB hard drive will show up in Windows as a 279 GB hard drive.

Once I tried this it worked like a charm!) Thanks Again, Jo

JoMo on November 25, 2007 12:22 am My computer came with a single 40 gig hard drive. It gives you everything Home Premium and Professional offers, plus added security features. It's brand new, Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB Sata 3.5" And I have tried DBAN on my last HDD and it didnt work I'll try it on this one too though. have a peek here After a short time came a pop up window: Device is currently in use and cannot be removed from the system.

Windows 8 upgrade is for Windows. Unfortunately, this tool won't work in this case. Just because your drive is new doesn't mean it can't be bad.

desktop icon sizing, control panel views, task manager settings, etc.

Dmitry Postrigan on September 8, 2007 12:18 pm The wise man has spoken!!!! There is no need to put down another OS in here. Been running linux on f1 750gb for quite a while. Windows 7 Ultimate highly compressed less than 10MB.

My 1TB WD10EACS was showing up as only 32mb. Then for seeing 7 installed another method besides booting from the 7 dvd is by way of creating a USB Installation Key with a 4gb or larger usb flash drive. Now i instaled it on a motherboard ASRock K8NF&G-VSTA and it only reconizes 33GB on bios, on windowsxp the disk doesn't appear, on linux the disk shows it's full capacity. http://gbcmedina.com/windows-7/install-guide-to-avoid-windows-7-install-freezes-at-starting-windows.php It says I have a missing or corrupt hal.dll.

It will not load to safemode with the gefore standalone video card but the video card does work for sure. Windows 2000, 2003 and XP do not support big drives by default; you will have to install the latest service pack in order to get big drives working properly on these I can't enable LB48 mode again. without the install disk in the cd rom drive it just goes right to missing or corrupt \system32\ntoskrnl.exe "NO...

BEFORE the update the geometry of the disk was CHS -> 19857 / 16 / 63 OR LBA -> 1246 / 255 / 63 AFTER the update the geometry went down and so simple to do.. Sambient usb/eSata PATA/Sata II, III external enclosure. If the tool fails to restore the original capacity, then the most common reason is that your motherboard is blocking HPA and DCO commands.

Now reboot, remove the Ubuntu CD and you should reboot straight into Windows. Thank you so much for freely distributing this siftware. You may try to find a software that does SCSI formatting or use your SCSI card BIOS to format the drive.

Dmitry Postrigan on August 20, 2007 3:02 pm Thanks let's get a look at your disk(s) and partitions.

need for speed rivals crack v3 bit download » net erp celtic football club downloads software 6 days ago Windows 7 Highly Compressed Just in 10 MB Free Download From Links I have tried everything that I could think of, Jumpers, reformat, Partition Magic, plugging in to PC via IDE and nothing has worked. to the first or to the second one?what will happen to my data? Now I installed your tool and I got 104 Gig back!!!

It's possible that your PC has a special recovery partition that will allow you to start the Windows Recovery Environment without needing a physical disc. XP detected it as only 32gb. You can leave the rest of the disk unallocated for now. Boot from the live CD (or live USB) of any recent version of Ubuntu and choose “Try Ubuntu” to get to the live desktop 2.

The boot sector contains some code and data that helps BIOS hand off control of the startup process to Windows.
